CyberSec People is a specialist cybersecurity search firm built from inside the security community. We have been part of this industry since before our founding, not because of sales tactics, but because of genuine curiosity about the people and problems that define it.
Curiosity First. Business Second.
Back in 2016, the cybersecurity industry looked like a very different place. Most people outside of it did not understand what security professionals actually did. Most recruiters certainly did not. We started attending events, meeting people, and learning the language of an industry that was quietly becoming one of the most important in the world.
In 2017, we founded CyberSec People with a simple thesis: the security industry deserved a search firm that was actually part of it. Not one that treated "cyber" as a keyword to bolt onto an IT staffing model. One that understood the difference between a SOC analyst and a detection engineer, between compliance theatre and genuine risk management, between someone who blocks and someone who builds.
That year, we became the first recruiter to present at security conferences in Australia. By 2019, we were running career development programmes at BSides Melbourne and BSides Canberra. That distinction between showing up to sell and showing up to contribute has defined everything we have done since.
Started attending security events out of curiosity. Not for sales. Not for leads. Just because the industry was fascinating and the people in it were doing things that mattered.
Founded CyberSec People. The industry looked very different then. Most recruiters treated security like another IT vertical. We saw it as its own world, with its own language, its own culture, and its own way of building trust.
First conference talk at BSides Perth in 2017, becoming the first recruiter to present at security conferences in Australia. Became embedded in the community, showing up at every event we could. Not because we had a booth. Because we belonged there.
Started running career development programmes at BSides Melbourne and BSides Canberra. Resume reviews, career coaching, and honest conversations about what it takes to break into and grow within security. Co-organising SecTalks Gold Coast from 2021.
Career programmes at AISA CyberCon from 2022 to 2024. Speaking at BSides Las Vegas. Co-organising BSides Gold Coast from 2024. The work kept growing because the community kept showing up.
Ran the Black Hat Career Development Program across three continents: Asia, USA, and Europe. Spoke at RooCon, the threat intelligence conference. BSides Melbourne and Canberra programmes continuing into 2026. Repositioned around eight specialisations that reflect where the industry is heading.
We Did Not Build a Network. We Grew Up in One.
Over the years, we have had the privilege of being involved in some of the most important events and career development programmes in the security community. This is not a sponsorship strategy. It is who we are. It has taken us from Australia to Singapore, to the US and Europe.

We are not a staffing agency that added "cyber" to the website. We are a specialist cybersecurity search firm that exists because the industry needed one that actually understood it.
Our clients are founders making their first security hire, CISOs scaling teams at high-growth companies, and security leaders who think like builders regardless of company size. We work with seed-stage startups through to Series D and beyond, and with the enterprises that share our philosophy of hiring people who enable the business rather than slow it down.
The people we hire are not on job boards. They are running programmes, breaking systems, and building security at companies that move fast. We reach them because we have been in the same rooms, at the same events, and in the same conversations for nearly a decade. That trust is not something you can manufacture.
